RoHS Testing
What is ROHS testing
RoHS is a mandatory standard established by European Union legislation. Its full name is the "Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment" (Restriction of Hazardous Substances). This standard officially came into effect on July 1, 2006, and is primarily used to regulate the materials and process standards of electronic and electrical products, making them more beneficial for human health and environmental protection.
Scope of ROHS Testing Products
The scope of the RoHS directive is AC1000V, DC1500 or less electronic and electrical products listed in the catalogue:
1. Large household appliances: refrigerators, washing machines, microwave ovens, air conditioners, etc.;
2. Small household appliances: vacuum cleaners, electric irons, hair dryers, ovens, clocks, etc.;
3. IT and communication instruments: computers, fax machines, telephones, mobile phones, etc.;
4. Civil devices: radios, televisions, video recorders, musical instruments, etc.;
5. Lighting appliances: fluorescent lamps other than household lighting, lighting control devices;
6. Power tools: electric drills, lathes, welding, sprayers, etc. (except for large industrial tools that need to be installed);
7. Toys/entertainment, sports equipment: electric vehicles, video game consoles;
8. Medical devices: radiotherapy instruments, electrocardiogram testers, analytical instruments, etc.;
9. Monitoring/control equipment: smoke detectors, incubators, factory monitoring and control machines, etc.;
10. Vending machines;
Among them, Articles 8 and 9 of the RoHS Directive do not apply to the time being.
ROHS Testing and Certification Documentation Preparation
1. For heavy metal testing only: solid samples should provide about 5-10g, and liquid samples should provide 5-10mL;
2. For brominated flame retardant testing only: solid samples should provide about 10-20g, and liquid samples should provide 10-20mL;
3. For testing both heavy metals and organic pollutants: provide about 20-30g of sample;
4. For testing other organic pollutants: provide about 30g of sample;
5. For samples testing only the plated (coated) parts, the approximate weight of the plated (coated) material should be indicated; if the plated (coated) part does not meet the required sample quantity, the raw material of the plating (coating) should be provided.
ROHS Testing Factory Inspection
Factory inspection is not required, but RoHS generally requires a one-year validity period. In fact, the RoHS test report itself is only based on the analysis of the product, as long as your product material, production process and process remain unchanged, the test report can be valid for a long time.
ROHS Testing and Certification Cycle
RoHS integration takes 5 working days for fewer than 20 sets, 7 working days for more than 20 sets, and RoHS testing takes 5 working days.
