Primary Purpose:
To limit the amount of harmful element migration in toys, thereby preventing children from in gestingheavy metals through oral ingestion, skin contact, and other means, thereby safeguarding the health of young children.
Standard Definition:
Applicability: All toys and components intended for use by children under the age of 14, with a focus on toys that come into contact with the mouth, toys for children under 72 months, toys with accessible coatings and liquids/gel-based toys. Key Terms: Element migration refers to the amount of heavy metals in toy materials that dissolve under simulated human contact conditions.
Testing and Certification Requirements:
Core testing: Control of the leaching of 19 types of heavy metals, including antimony, arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, lead, mercury, and selenium, must comply with EU limits.
Certification Compliance: Testing must be conducted by a third-party Iaboratory recognized by the EU. Upon meeting the standards, products can enter the EU market, they must indicate the applicable age range and retain the test report for reference.
