To standardize the safety performance ofsoft child carriers (without rigid frames) to mitigate risks such as strap tearing, clasp failurechild falls, and entanglement, thereby ensuring the safety of infants up to 3 years old (weighing 3-18 kg) during wear and carriage.
Standard Definition:
EN 13209-2 is a mandatory standard for child care products in the European Union (EN 13209-2:2015). It applies to child carriers made entirely of soft materials and must comply with EU REACH regulations and the GPSD directive. It is a prerequisite for CE certification.
Testing and Certification Requirements:
The product must undergo testing by a recognized third-party entity recognized by the EU, which serves as the basis for CE certification:
Structural Durability: The strap must withstand 5,000 cycles of friction without damage and 300 N of tensile force without breaking.
Clasp Test: The clasp must function properly 1,000 times without malfunction and prevent accidental activation.
Prevention of Suffocation: The newborn mode must include head support, and the carrier width must be 25 cm. Material Safety: Lead content must be s90 ppm, cadmium content must be s75 ppm, and the total phthalate content must be s0.1%. Marking Requirements: The weight range applicable and the warning "Do not use while cycling" must be marked.
