To standardize the design and safety features of reclining baby cradles, thereby preventing risks such as infants rolling off and falling, getting stuck, suffocation, chemical hazards, and ensuring the personal safety of infants aged 0-12 months during sleep and rest.
Standard Definition:
EN 12790 is a mandatory European standard for children’s care products, applicable to household reclining baby cradles (including portable models). It complies with EU GPSD directives and REACH regulations, serves as the core basis for CE certification, and is suitable for use with infants weighing up to 9 kg.
Testing and Certification Requirements:
Must undergo testing by a recognized EU-approved third-party entity to serve as the basis for CE certification:
Structural Safety: Side protection ≥ 30 cm, 6 cm sphere test without entrapment; 150 N pull without loosening.
Prevention of Suffocation: Mattress ≤ 10 cm, breathable and inclined ≤ 15°.
Material Safety: Lead ≤ 90 ppm, cadmium ≤ 75 ppm, total phthalates ≤ 0.1%, formaldehyde ≤ 0.1 mg/m3. Marking Requirements: Mark “0-12 months / ≤ 9 kg” and sleep safety warnings.
