EN 12221-2: Products for the Use and Care of Children - Household Changing Tables - Part 2

Core Purpose:

To establish a standardized testing procedure, equipment requirements, and evaluation criteria for the safety performance of household changing tables, ensuring the objectivity and consistency of test results from different laboratories,and providing technical support for the implementation of EN 12221-1. 

Standard Definition:

EN 12221-2 is the European Union's standard for testing changing tables, which is mandatory in conjunction with EN 12221-1. It is an essential testing basis for CE certification and governs the entire process and technical requirements for verifying the safety performance of changing tables.

Testing and Certification Requirements:

The product must undergo testing by a recognized EU-approved third party in accordance with the standard, serving as the basis for CE certification:

Static Load: The table surface must withstand 75 kg of load for 5 minutes with deformation  3 mm;

Locking Test: 1,000 cycles of opening and closing without loosening or misoperation; Edges Test: The radius of the accessible edges must be 20.5 mm;

Chemical Testing: Must meet the limits specified in EN 12221 - 1;

Marking Requirements: The test report must include information on the standard, the laboratory, and the results.
