EN 12221-1: Children's Products and Care Products - Household Changing Tables - Part1

Core Purpose:

To standardize the safe design of household babychanging tables, thereby preventing risks such as infant falls, entrapment, ingestion of smaII parts, chemical hazards, and ensuring the physical safety of infants during changing. It also provides a foundation for safe operation for caregivers.


Standard Definition:

A specific European Union standard (EN 12221-1:2008 + A1:2013), based on the General Product Safety Directive, serves as the mandatory compliance basis for household changing tables.


Testing and Certification Requirements:

Must undergo testing by a recognized third-party entity in the EU, which serves as the basis for CE certification:

Structural Safety: Guardrails 215 cm, table surface 75 kg static pressure without cracking, edge radius  0.5 mm;

Prevention of Ingestion: Small parts 45-67 N tensile strength without detachment; Material Safety:Lead  90 ppm, Cadmium s 75 ppm, total phthalates  0.1%, formaldehyde  0.1 mg/m3;Marking Requirements: Display "Requires full supervision for infants under 6 months" warning and compliance information.
