Primary Purpose:
To standardize the design and protective performanceof household child safety barriers, thereby preventing risks such as falls, entrapment, sharp-edged injuries, and chemical poisoning. These barriers create a safe play area for infants and toddlers aged 6 months to 3 years, preventing them from entering hazardous areas Iike stairways and kitchens.
Standard Definition:
A mandatory EU standard (version 2011) applicable to indoor stair gate doors and partition guardrails. Not applicable to window protection bars. It is a prerequisite for CE certification.
Testing and Certification Requirements:
Must undergo testing by a recognized EU-approved third party as the basis for CE certification:
Structural safety: component spacing < 6.5 cm, bottom gap < 2.5 cm; 350 N static load without deformation, 50 J impact without detachment;
Anti-clogging and anti-pinching: edge radius 0.5 mm, small parts 45-67 N pull without detachment;
Durability test: 10,000 cycles of opening and closing with functional integrity; Material safety: wood formaldehyde s0.1 mg/m3, lead/cadmium 100 ppm, phthalates 0.1%; Marking requirements: indicate applicable age and installation guidelines.
