Primary Purpose: 

This is a mandatory EU method standard that harmonizes the specifications for the re-treatment of samples for the detection of organic compounds in toys, ensuring accurate test results and safeguarding the safety of children under 14 years old. 


Standard Definition:

Applicable to components accessible to children under 14 years old in toys, excluding chemical toys; focuses on exposure scenarios such as oral ingestion, skin contact, and inhalation.


Testing and Certification Requirements:

Preparation: Collect accessible components, >10 cm2 of representative samples, and cut or grind them according to material type;

Extraction: Use simulated liquids like deionized water to extract compounds based on their type;

Compliance: Must be accompanied by EN71-9/11, performed by a laboratory accredited by ISO/IEC 17025.
