Primary Purpose:

To prevent risks such as falls, entrapment, and structural failures, ensuring the safety of children weighing between 7.3 kg and 22.7 kg while in vehicles. This standard balances support stability and carrying comfort.

 

Standard Definition:

ASTM F2549 is a core specification published by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). Thecurrent version, ASTM F2549-22 (replacing the previous version), incorporates CPSC mandatory regulations. It applies to back-style child carriers with rigid frames (excluding soft models). It is suitable for children aged 6 months to 4 years and serves as a crucial basis forcompliance and CPC certification in the North American market and major e-commerce platforms.

 

Testing and Certification Requirements: 

Key requirements include:Testing must be conducted by a laboratoryaccredited by ISO 17025.  Structural Strength: The frame and connections must withstand load/impact tests without failure; Restraint System: Shoulder straps and buckles must resist tensile forces and prevent accidental unlocking;

Stability: The carrier must prevent tilting while being carried and not obstruct the child's breathing and visibility;

Harmful Substances: Lead, phthalates, and other hazardous substances must meetstandards, and there must be no sharp edges or small parts that pose suffocation risks; CIear labeling of manufacturer information, compliance marks, and safety warnings.
