ASTM F2050: Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Handheld Infant Carriers.

Primary Purpose: 

To prevent risks such as falls, strangulation, entrapment, and other hazards associated with the use of handheld infant carriers by infants aged 0-3 years. This standardis mandatory for market entry in North America. 


Standard Definition: 

Current Version: ASTM F2050-19. Applicability: Non-vehicle handheld infant carriers/carriers, excluding vehicle-mounted safety seats. 


Testing and Certification Requirements: 

Structure: Handles with automatic locking mechanism, impact-resistant and non-deformable; side-fall protection with no sharp edges or entrapment risks. 

Restraints: Exposed restraint straps  76 mm; testing for non-loosening of tension. 

Physics: No detachable small parts, prevention of accidental ingestion. 

Chemistry: Total lead in contactable components  100 ppm, 8-component phthalates  0.1%. 

Marking and Certification: Marking of manufacturer, applicable age range, standard number, and safety warnings; required testing by ISO 17025-certified laboratories;child-specific models require CPC certification.
